RatKing was created in 14 weeks for Abertay University's DES310 Module, under Modern Wolf.
Description
Ratking is an extraction game, where rather than facing your foes head-on, you must sneak your way through the sprawling feline mansion as a helpless little rat. With clever use of your agility, wits and nose, you must liberate the fat cats of all of their treasures, before escaping.
Extraction
An extraction game is one where the player alternates between their safe zone, a safe space for managing and preparation, and the extraction zone, a perilous area filled with goodies. Extraction points provide you with the ability to escape the mansion, heal, or safely secure your current loot.
Risk V Reward
Every choice you make matters. Whether it be which path you take to a treasure, or whether to extract now or later. Nowhere is this more apparent than with the risk and reward keys. Perform well, and you'll gain blue keys to open doors, but perform poorly, and you will lose red keys and close off the mansion.
Preparation
Between runs, return to your homely sewer. Here, you can craft tools to take with you, or spend the gold earned from your sold goods on permanent upgrades.
